The first Concert on the Green is scheduled on Friday, July 11, 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. The concert will take place on the Village Green and feature the John Burnett Swing Orchestra playing big band classics. The event is free and open to the public.

Round out your summer weekend with a movie under the stars on the Village Green.  These family-friendly evenings will feature flicks that everyone can enjoy.  Screen on the Green is free, open to the public, and weather-permitting. Scheduled movies are:

The next Economic Development Committee meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, July 15, at 7:30 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is available for review at the Village Hall.

The second Concert on the Green is scheduled on Friday, July 18, 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. The concert will take place on the Village Green and feature 215 West playing an assortment of classic and modern rock hits. The event is free and open to the public.

The next Plan Commission meeting is scheduled on Monday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m.

The next Veterans Memorial Committee meeting is scheduled on Wednesday, July 23, at 5:30 p.m.

The next Environmental Quality Commission meeting is scheduled on Wednesday, July 23, at 7:30 p.m.

The third Concert on the Green is scheduled on Friday, July 25, 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. The concert will take place on the Village Green and feature Green Thirteen playing an assortment of classic and modern rock and country hits. The event is free and open to the public.

You will recall that the Burr Ridge Park District and Downtown Burr Ridge Events Planning Committee teamed up to provide a free six-week summer concert series for the entire family.  The remaining concerts will be held Tuesdays in August at Harvester Park (15W400 Harvester Drive), from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., weather permitting.  August 12^th, Midnight will play 70’s rock hits. August 19^th R Gang will entertain with Motown classics and August 26^th the Jennifer Jennings Band will play classic and modern rock and country hits.

The Burr Ridge Park District and Village Center held their first Market on the Green on Thursday, July 10, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with Mayor Grasso participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Market will be held every Thursday until September 25th (excluding August 28^th). The Market featured local farmers and vendors offering produce, cheese, baked goods and other "green" items including potted and fresh cut flowers, toiletries, treats for pets, jewelry, etc. Cook Au Vin was on site preparing fresh crepes. Additional food vendors will be added in the coming weeks as they obtain approval from the Cook County Health Department. The Market has received positive feedback and had a good amount of foot traffic. Guests also commented on the appearance and quality of the Village Center and Village Green.

A letter to Mayor Grasso from State Senator Edward Maloney regarding budgetary and legislative matters that were addressed, but not necessarily concluded, during the General Assembly’s spring session is available for review at the Village Hall.

The summaries of the Financial Information Reports for the month of June 2008, prepared by Finance Director Jerry Sapp and Assistant Finance Director Lynette Zurawski, are available for review at the Village Hall.

The Village received a letter from Cindy Yelich, 4^th of July Celebration Coordinator for the Pleasant Dale Park District, thanking the Village for its support of this year’s Family Celebration on the 4^th of July.

The Police Department Activity Report for the period of July 3 through July 11, prepared by Police Chief Herb Timm, is available for review at the Village Hall.

The Summer 2008 edition of IRMA’s Risk Trends newsletter is available for review at the Village Hall.
