Annual Tax Levy Introduction Located within both Cook and DuPage Counties, the Village of Burr Ridge still has one of the lowest tax rates for a municipality in the Chicago metropolitan area. For a resident of Burr Ridge, the Village share of the 2006 average tax bill was approximately 2.6% (see below). For comparison purposes, consider that Du- Page County received, on average, 4.4% and Cook County received 9.0%. School districts constituted the largest share with, for example, High School District 86, on average, receiving 26.4% of the tax bill and Lyons Township High School District receiving 29.9%.The Village tax base mix is comprised of 80% residential, 15% commercial, and 5% industrial. Over the past 10 years, the Village’s Equalized Assessed Valuation (EAV) has grown from $485,962,900 in 1997 to $1,088,575,147 in 2006 – a 124.0% increase. This represents an average annual increase of approximately 12.4%. Through this strong growth and development, the Village has kept its property tax levy and rate low. The tax rate for 2006 for a Village resident in DuPage County was $.1168 and, in Cook County, the rate was $.1270 per $100 of EAV. The Village Board of Trustees holds a public hearing on the second Monday of December before the passage of the Tax Levy Ordinance that sets the tax levy dollar amount. This Ordinance must be passed and filed with the respective counties by the last Tuesday in December of each year.
