Subsidized Taxi Program

Registration for the subsidized taxi program for senior citizens and persons with disabilities can be arranged by contacting Village Clerk Karen Thomas at 654-8181, extension 101.

To be eligible for the program, you must:

  • Be a resident of Burr Ridge, and
  • Be at least 60 years old, or
  • Have a permanent disability

To register, residents must show two forms of identification evidencing their address, age and social security number. Disabled participants who are less than 60 years old must bring doctor certification of their disability. Photo identification cards and literature explaining the program details will be issued at registration. 111 residents are currently registered for this program.

The program is sponsored in conjunction with the DuPage County Inter-Agency Paratransit Coordinating Council. A contracted taxi company offers service to Burr Ridge participants and accepts pre-purchased coupons for payment. Destination areas include all of DuPage County, the Cook County portion of the Village and that portion of Cook County bordered on the north by Madison Street, on the south by 111th and on the east by Harlem Avenue, as well as both O'Hare and Midway Airports. Taxis are on call 24 hours per day. Rides are paid for using coupons purchased in advance from the Village. Registered participants will be allowed to purchase no more than 20 ride coupons per month. Each coupon is worth $5 of riding time in the taxi, but costs the participant only $2.50.
