Village Planner - The Village of Burr Ridge is undergoing a significant phased reorganization to its staffing structure, and is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in the valued role of Village
Planner. This is a highly self-directed, hands-on opportunity with unique experience available to an entry level position. This position will report directly to the Village Administrator and will routinely communicate with elected and appointed officials, as planning and zoning is a highly valued service in Burr Ridge. The successful candidate will be well-positioned to pursue seniorlevel management opportunities after several years in this position due to the depth and breadth of experience available in the position’s listed duties.

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, approach, and traits:
• Minimum of two years’ professional experience in a planning setting; experience in a relevant internship may be considered as part of this requirement
• A bachelor’s degree in urban or community planning, public administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree in a similar field and AICP designation are highly preferred but not required
• Ability to independently evaluate commercial, residential, and mixed-use development proposals before the Village
• Confidence and ability to present, communicate, and dialogue in written and verbal form to elected and appointed officials as the staff liaison to the Village’s combined Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals
• The willingness and stamina to work long hours, occasionally outside of normal business hours, including regularly attending evening meetings of the Plan Commission and Board of Trustees
• Ability to communicate with the general public on matters of Code Compliance, while serving as the Village’s Code Compliance officer as it relates to zoning matters, including acting as a representative to the Village Administrative Adjudication program
• Management skill in assisting other staff with the Village’s building permit process, including acting as the Zoning Administrator
• A highly positive attitude in matters of constituent service, including a natural inclination for problem-solving and teamwork in working with both internal and external stakeholders

Summer Seasonal Worker - The Village of Burr Ridge, Illinois, is accepting applications for Summer Seasonal Worker in the Public Works Department.  Applicants should have experience with hand tools, lawn and landscaping equipment, or building materials.  Applicants must be highly motivated, independent thinkers with a strong work ethic, have effective communication skills, and be available to work in all weather conditions.  Typical hours will be Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but may vary depending on project needs. Engineering Intern - The Village of Burr Ridge, Illinois, is accepting applications from undergraduate students for the temporary position of  Engineering Intern. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited degree program. Civil, environmental, or construction engineering programs are preferred, but other programs and disciplines will be considered. The Engineering Intern will support the Engineering Division on various municipal engineering activities, including inspections, pavement condition evaluations, drainage facility maintenance assessments, cost estimating, and other associated tasks. The internship is full-time - beginning in May 2021 and lasting for 3-4 months. Typical hours will be Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 330 p.m., but may vary depending on project needs. GENERAL UTILITY WORKER I (Full-Time)The Village of Burr Ridge is seeking qualified applicants for General Utility Worker I in the Public Works Department. Responsibilities include operating power construction equipment, maintaining and repairing utility systems, maintaining public buildings, streetlight maintenance, roadway maintenance, snow plowing, fleet maintenance, water meter reading, water meter replacement, and landscaping.  Applicants must be reliable, possess a strong work ethic, be mechanically inclined, be willing to work in all weather conditions and be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.  Applicants should have a valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (B) with Tanker Endorsement (or obtain it within six (6) months of hire), a safe driving record, and a high school diploma or equivalent.
